BERLIN — German authorities arrested a former DaimlerChrysler AG employee Tuesday on suspicion of breach of trust in connection with a wider investigation into alleged irregularities at the automaker’s German sales division.
The man, who was not identified, is suspected of illegally awarding a contract worth 3.5 million euros ($4.3 million) to a construction company, prosecutors in Stuttgart said. The man is the 20th suspect under investigation in the case.
Prosecutors have said the probe involves former and current employees in DaimlerChrysler’s sales and construction divisions, concerning work on private properties between 2001 and 2003.
The automaker has pledged to support investigators.
