Dodge to Offer Navigation System on Pickup
Date Posted 08-31-2005
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — A full-screen navigation system will be available as a $1,500 option on the 2006 Dodge Ram.
Dodge rationalizes this unprecedented application of equipment on the Ram as an appeal to the more recent demographic of truck buyers that tend to be families, as opposed to general contractors and outdoorsmen.
The 2006 Dodge Ram Mega Cab will go even further into the mainstream with such features as a sunroof, a DVD player, folding rear seats, faux wood panels, heated seats and tinted rear passenger windows. The truck is expected to sell for roughly $33,000.
Alpine Electronics Inc. makes the navigation unit, according to Automotive News.
What this means to you: Either this is a sign of the changing times or an act of sacrilege against the traditional ruggedness of the Ram.
